From 5:30 am on Monday, 3/28 until around midnight on Friday, 4/1, the JVES 5th graders were on their awesome trip to our nation’s capital. The students were wonderfully behaved and the group received compliments at almost every place they visited. The whirlwind five days included trips to the Air & Space Museum at Dulles, Kennedy Center, White House, National Archives, Smithsonian Museums of Natural History-American History-Air & Space, Library of Congress, Capitol, Supreme Court, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Vietnam Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, National Zoo, National Cathedral, FDR Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, World War II Memorial, Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Marine Memorial. If just reading that list makes you tired, imagine how worn out the 5th graders (and especially the old folks) were by the end of the week. We would like to thank every person who helped us go on our trip and a special “shout out” goes to the 5th grade teachers (Mrs. Ernest and Mr. Serenius) and Mrs. Kelly Hall for their time and efforts spent in preparation for the trip.
