On Wednesday, November 9, a group of 4th and 5th grade students had a hands-on experience with James Jones of Build A Plane. Mr. Jones brought the jet fuselage of a BD-5 Microjet, the smallest jet in the world, into our school cafeteria. Students were shown the rivets and allowed to use the rivet tool as Mr. Jones explained how rivets hold a plane together. Each student had the chance to strap on the helmet and sit in the cockpit of the plane. As they were pretending to be the pilot, they flipped a switch which began the simulation of a noisy jet engine. Many great questions were asked and the students had a enjoyable and educational afternoon. Thank you Mr. Jones!!
