Fifth Grade End of Year Update

May 21, 2020

Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families Fifth Grade Families,

This message contains information about Chromebook and materials collection, Yearbook purchases, and fifth grade end of the year farwell plans, and Summer Camp.

Chromebook pick up, book turn in, work packet turn in, yearbook pick up will be next Tuesday, May 26th from 11:00-1:00.  There will be multiple stations along the bus parking lot sidewalk.  Chromebooks and chargers will be checked and turned in at Station #1.   Work packets will be turned in at Station #2. Library books and classroom books will be in turned in at Station #3 by teacher.   Summer Camp registration will be at Station #4.  Grade level teachers will be at Station #5 with a yearbook for every fifth grade student.  We will continue to practice social distancing as reminded by the Central Office.  Cars will pull around as they have during work packet pick up.  We will allow one car at a time to get out, turn in, and pick up items along the station route, and get back in their vehicle.  Then, the next car may pull up and get out.  As you drive away to leave Jonathan Valley, please stop one car at a time if you wish to take some pictures.  Our marquee sign will have a special message for our fifth graders.

The fifth grade recognition video will be posted on Google classrooms, and the video will also be shared with parent emails to keep.

Jonathan Valley will begin Summer Camp on June 8th.  Initially, camp will be limited to 30 students.  Camp will operate 8-4, Monday through Friday.  The cost will be $125 per week, and families attending will pay by the week.  More information, including an application, will be available during the scheduled grade level pick up / drop off days next week.  You may also pick up an application next week by calling our office, Tuesday – Friday, 8-3.  Applications may be turned in beginning Monday, June 1st, 8:00AM -3:00. We will set a Summer Camp  application box outside the front doors at Jonathan Valley the entire week, June 1-5.  We will check the box frequently, and collect applications as they are turned in.  The first 30 turned in will be enrolled.  We will assess any additional applications and the potential to expand.  If you do not get enrolled in the first 30, and expansion is possible, we will contact you based on the order applications were turned in.

Thank you so much for your support, patience, and grace during this season of uncharted times.  We will continue to try to always do what is best for kids.

As always we are here to help, so please call us with any questions or concerns you may have.
