Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,
This message contains information about pending inclement weather, 12 Days of Christmas Spirit Days, White Christmas Canned Food Drive, practice lockdown, Winter Break, Winter Break meal kits, and Make-up and remote learner pictures
There are multiple pending weather situations next week. Remote learning days will be designated on closed winter weather days when we provide students, staff, and parents with appropriate prior notice. Your child will be sent home with work to complete in case a remote learning day is called. This work should be completed for your child to be counted present. Please see the attached memo from Dr. Nolte.
Don’t forget to join us next week as we continue our 12 Days of Christmas Spirit Days.
The last day to bring in donations for the White Christmas Canned Food Drive is Tuesday, December 15th. Thank you for all of the donations so far. All donations stay in Haywood County.
Jonathan Valley will have one of our required practice lockdowns this week. All schools are required to have two practice lockdowns every year. A letter explaining this will be sent home with your child tomorrow. During the lockdown students will not be able to check out or check in to school. The second practice lockdown will be in the Spring, and it will be unannounced.
Winter Break will be December 23rd through January 5th. Students return to school on January 6th.
Winter Break meal kits will be available at Canton Middle and Tuscola on Tuesday, December 22nd, from 4:30-6:30. Please see the attached memo below.
Make-up and remote learner pictures are scheduled for January 7th. Students learning remotely will be able to schedule their picture time with their remote learning teacher. Remote learning students should be walked to the front door of the school for a health screening. We ask parents to wait outside.
Please call Jonathan Valley with any questions. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Multiple Pending Weather Announcements
By admin / December 10, 2020
This update is for multiple pending weather situations. Several weather models indicate possible winter weather events next week.
- Rain on Sunday is expected to change to mixed precipitation or snow in the early morning hours of Monday, December 14th.
- Another ban of precipitation is expected Tuesday evening through Thursday. This ban of precipitation could produce mixed precipitation or snow during the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 16th and again late Wednesday into the morning of Thursday, December 17th.
The Morning Crew will monitor these situations. If any announcements are necessary, they will be made no later than 5:45 a.m. on the impacted school day. If these weather events cause schools to close on Monday or subsequent days during the week, they will be designated as Remote Learning Days.
Remote Learning Days will be designated on closed winter weather days when we provide students, staff, and parents with appropriate prior notice. Weather-related Remote Learning Days are Optional Workdays for school employees. These days will operate with front-loaded learning like previous Remote Learning Days.
The Morning Crew will monitor pending weather. We will make appropriate announcements using our rapid notification system. If in doubt, please check multiple sources (HCS website, HCS social media, and local media outlets).
