Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,

We hope your Summer has been fantastic so far. With the first day of school quickly approaching we wanted to send out some updates.

Your family should have already received a letter in the mail introducing your child’s teacher for the 21-22 school year. All letters were to be mailed by July 30th.   If you do not receive a letter by tomorrow, just give us a call, and we can check the address on file for you to make sure it is current, and we can also see if we’ve had any letters returned to sender at JVE. 

As many of you know, the HCS School Board voted on July 27th to make masks optional.  Please see your email, Remind, or the HCS website for this press release.

This year we will be hosting small group family meetings very similar to the 1 on 1 meetings we had at the beginning of the 20-21 school year. The letter from your teacher will have available dates and times for you to choose from. Please plan to attend one of these meetings. This will give your family an opportunity to meet your teacher, see the classroom,  find out about what your child will be learning this year, hear about grade level expectations, sign up for Remind, update paperwork, and other important beginning of the school year things. You do not need to sign up for a meeting, just choose the best one that works for your schedule, and drop in at one of the designated times in the letter from your child’s teacher.   Please do not come outside of the scheduled days and times as our teachers will be making final preparations for the first week of school.

Kindergarten students and parents will not get a teacher letter and will not need to come to Meet the Teacher, because kindergarten students have not been assigned to a specific teacher yet. Teachers will be assigned after Kinder Camp. Kinder Camp days are Monday and Tuesday, August 16th and 17th. Reminders were already mailed out. If you’re not sure which day your kindergartener is supposed to come to Kinder Camp, please give us a call.  KIndergarten staff will be at JVE beginning August 10th.

The first day of school is Monday, August 16th, and it is a 12:30 dismissal.  The Haywood County School’s calendar may be found on the HCS website and the JVE website.  

Please make sure you have indicated how your child will get home on the first day. After School care paperwork will be sent home with every child on the first day of school.  Please fill out this paperwork, even if you don’t plan on needing after school care for your child, emergencies do occur, and students are not allowed to be kept in afterschool unless the paperwork is filled out. After school care will begin Wednesday, August 18th. 

It’s time to link your Ingles Advantage Card to JVE for this upcoming year; this has to be done each year. It’s a very quick and easy process as long as you have your Ingles card handy.  You may also sign up to have JVE linked to your purchases from Publix. There is no card required for Publix.  Both sign ups are online, easy, and fairly quick.   Both grocery stores give back to schools, and it is a huge help to JVE.
