Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,

This message contains information about progress reports, Second Step, Reading for Education fundraiser, Fall Festival, and Fall picture day.

Progress reports will be sent home on Monday, September 20th, with students in 1st through 5th grade.

A blue letter was sent home with all students on Friday explaining the school wide Second Step initiative at JVE.  We want your child to be as successful as possible at school.  We will be using the Second Step program in your child’s classroom to teach skills in four areas:  skills for learning, empathy, emotion management, and problem solving.  Please check out this letter for more information.  

Our Reading for Education fundraiser will kick off Monday, September 20th.  This fundraiser allows families to help our school by purchasing items online, even gift cards for teachers at JVE to buy reading materials for their classrooms.  Forty percent of each purchase goes to JVE, and will be used to fund specific classroom needs.  An envelope will be sent home with your student tomorrow with information on signing up for the fundraiser and prizes.  Students that sign up and bring a prize code back to their classroom teacher will receive a Hugger participation prize.  You may check out the prizes at the following link and then click Huggers Only.

We have received approval to have the Fall Festival this year.  It will be Tuesday, October 12th, from 5:30-7:30.  It will be a little different though, because we have only been approved to have it outside, but we are excited to continue this tradition even if it will look different than in past years.  An orange letter about the Fall Festival and donations was sent home with your student on Friday.  

Fall picture day will be October 21st.
