Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,

This message contains information about vision screenings, Fall Festival, the upcoming practice lockdown, Fall Break, and an update about inclement weather plans.

Vision screening for Kindergarten through 5th grade students will be on October 11.  If your child wears glasses or contacts, please be sure they bring them to school that day. If you have any questions or do not want your child to participate, please let the teacher or the school nurse know.  There was also a  note sent home with students earlier this week.

We hope everyone will plan to join us this Tuesday, October 12th, for the annual JVE Fall Festival.  The festivities will begin at 5:30 and end at 7:30.  Be sure you have sent your yellow, order, form back if you are planning to pre-order wristbands.

We will have two lockdown drills this school year; one in the fall and one in the spring. Our fall lockdown drill will be on October 15th. Please check your child’s bookbag for a blue letter explaining the upcoming drill.

Monday, October 18 is a Teacher Workday and Tuesday, October 19 is a Remote Learning Workday. What that means is that your child will not come to school on those two days. They will bring home  (assignments on Seesaw or Google Classroom on an Ipad or Chromebook and / or paper / pencil assignments) on Friday, October 15. The work will need to be done sometime between the time they leave school on Friday, October 15 and Tuesday, October 19. The work will be turned in on Wednesday, October 20 when they return to school. If the work is turned in, they will be counted present on Tuesday, October 19. If the work is not turned in, they will be counted absent on Tuesday, October 19.  A certain number of these remote days are required by law to be included in all NC public schools.

Picture day will be October 21st.  The following link will allow parents to sign up to receive updates via email regarding their child’s school portraits. These updates include promotions, additional deals and the ability to order more pictures at a later time. When entering student information, parents should be sure to enter the student’s name as it is on file at the school.
