Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,

This message has information about the most recent calendar updates after this past week’s inclement weather, Check In dates for 3rd-5th grade, Love the Bus Week, and upcoming Pre-K registration.

Right now there are not any RLOWs (Remote Learning Optional Workdays) left in the current calendar.  RLOWs were required by state law beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.  Five were included in the school calendar at the beginning of this year, and they have been moved for inclement weather closures.   Right now the last day of school for students is still June 3rd. Using RLOWs will not extend this date. However, using a Closed Day (No Day) would extend the calendar. We will work to avoid extending the calendar as weather and unforeseen events allow. March 4th and April 1st are 12:30 dismissal days designated for the LETRS (Science of Reading training) required by the state for elementary teachers.  April 1st is a 12:30 dismissal. April 8th is a 12:30 dismissal.  Spring Break is April 11-15.  Memorial Day is May 30th.  

The Check In assessments for 3rd-5th grade are coming up.  The Check Ins help our teachers know areas of student strength and understanding and areas where some students may need more instruction.  The Check In schedule is:  Thursday, February 10th -3rd and 5th ELA, Friday, February 11th- 3rd and 5th Math, Tuesday, February 15th- 4th ELA, Wednesday, February 16th- 4th Math and 5th Science.

Love the Bus Week is February 14-18.  We are thankful at JVE for our bus drivers and substitute bus drivers:  Mrs. Linda, Mrs. Nikki, Mr. Joe, Mrs. Greene, Mr. Robert, Mr. Chris, Mr. Dustin, and Coach Owings.  Let’s show them some love this week!

Pre-K application packets for the 2022-2023 program year are now available at the Central Office. Interested families can also request an emailed copy of the application packet by completing the link in the email or Remind account connected to this phone call account, or you may also find the link on our JVE website.
