Re: Class Assignments for 2022-2023
Date: April 22, 2022
It has been a wonderful year at Jonathan Valley Elementary School. Thank you for your cooperation and support this year in ensuring your child’s success.
In wrapping up this year, we are excited to begin making preparations for 2022-2023. Requests for a specific teacher will not be taken this year, however I would like to give you the opportunity to bring to my attention any special circumstance that would require requesting to avoid a teacher. Please be aware that teachers do sometimes move grade levels. Given the high-performing staff we are so fortunate to have at Jonathan Valley, requests to avoid must be well-founded, valid reasons, and must be submitted to me in writing or email by Monday, May 16th . Requests will not be considered after the May 16th deadline.
Our goal at Jonathan Valley is to consider all student data to create well-balanced, heterogeneous classes for next school year. Student data includes all academic and behavioral data. Since many new students enroll over the summer, class lists will be finalized prior to the opening of our new school year. Your child in grades 1-5 will receive a letter/ postcard / or phone call communicating the class assignment for 2022-2023 in late July or early August. Kindergarten students will have a different enrollment calendar. This information will be shared with our Kindergarten families at a later date.
The first student day of the new school year will be Monday, August 22nd. We will send out information about Open House and / or Teacher Meet and Greet as we get closer to the 2022-2023 school year.
Kindergarten registration will take place at JVE on Monday, May 2nd, from 8:30-9:30 or May 3rd from 5:00-6:00. . Please encourage anyone you know with a future 2022-2023 Kindergarten student to join us for registration. The number of teachers we are allowed to hire depends on the number of students enrolled in Kindergarten, therefore it is extremely helpful for new Kindergarten students to register as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Mrs. J. Reeves
