5/1/22
Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,
This message has information about Kindergarten registration, Scholastic Book Fair, Title 1 Camp Read a Lot Celebration, teacher requests for the 22-23 school year, and Bobcat College Camp for rising sixth grade students.
Kindergarten registration will be this week. Families enrolling Kindergarten students for the 22-23 school year are invited to come to JVE tomorrow, Monday, May 2nd from 8:30-9:30 or Tuesday, May 3 from 5:00-6:00 to register your child for Kindergarten.
We are excited to announce two family literacy events coming this week on May 4 and 5! The Scholastic Book Fair will be at JVE May 2-5. During the week of our Spring Book Fair, we will have a Shop and Share Day on Wednesday, May 4. Parents, family, and friends may come to school any time between 8:30 and 1:45 that day to shop the fair with their kids and then spend a few minutes reading with them in the library! You will need to come to the front office to sign in and get a visitor sticker. Your name should also be on the student information card we have at the front office in order to visit and read at the book fair with the student you are coming to see.
We will also have a Camp Read A Lot Celebration after school on Thursday, May 5 sponsored by Title I! Bring your lawn chairs and join us for a hotdog and an afternoon of storytelling! The book fair will also be open! Supper will be served from 5:30-6:00 with storytelling and book fair shopping to follow from 6:00-7:00. We hope you will be able to make it to one or both of these family events!
It has been a wonderful year at Jonathan Valley Elementary School. Thank you for your cooperation and support this year in ensuring your child’s success. We are excited to begin thinking about and making preparations for 2022-2023. One piece of preparing for next year is scheduling students. Requests for a specific teacher will not be taken this year, however I would like to give you the opportunity to bring to my attention any special circumstance that would require requesting to avoid a teacher. Please be aware that teachers do sometimes move grade levels. Given the high-performing staff we are so fortunate to have at Jonathan Valley, requests to avoid must be well-founded, valid reasons, and must be submitted to me in writing or email by Monday, May 16th . Requests will not be considered after the May 16th deadline. A letter explaining this in more detail was sent home last week. .
HCC will host a Bobcat College Camp July 11-15 for rising sixth grade students.
Please be sure to check Remind, your email connected to this phone call account, or our website for the flyers with much more information about all of these upcoming events.
Enjoy the rest of your afternoon, and give us a call if you have any questions.
