2/19/23

Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,

This message has information about progress reports, the upcoming NC Check-ins / NC Check-ins 2.0, the Remote Learning Day on February 24th, the 12:30 dismissal on March 3rd, and HCS Kindergarten registration.

Progress reports for 1st-5th grade were recently sent home with students. If you have not received your student’s progress report, please reach out to their teacher.

Third through fifth grade students will be participating in the NC Check-ins / NC Check-ins 2.0 soon. The main purpose of these assessments is to provide teachers with immediate, in depth data, of students’ current knowledge and performance on selected standards. The EOG shares a common question bank with the NC Check-ins / NC check-ins 2.0 which exposes students to similar questions types and rigor similar to the EOGs. Please see the letter that was sent home, through Remind, and email with a detailed schedule.

Friday, February 24th is scheduled as a Remote Learning Optional Workday, and Friday, March 3rd is scheduled as a 12:30 dismissal to allow elementary teachers time to work on the Science of Reading professional development required by the NC Department of Public Instruction.

Kindergarten registration for HCS is coming up. Kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school year will be on Thursday, May 4, from 3:30-5:30 at JVE. Registration paperwork will not be available before May, however if you’d like to be ahead of the game, you may bring a certified copy of your child’s birth certificate and your driver’s license (proof that you live in the JVE school district) and we will make copies of those items and add them to your child’s registration folder before that evening. If you’re not able to come to registration on May 4, you may come by the school office anytime after that to complete registration paperwork. If you do not live in the JVE school district, there is a formal process that must be completed to receive permission to attend JVE. According to school board policy there must be a verifiable work or child care related reason or another approved extenuating circumstance in order for an out of district placement to be approved.)

Enjoy the rest of your evening, and give us a call if you have any questions.

Go Panthers!
