Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,
This message contains information about student personal belongings, Chromebook and materials collection, upcoming Kindergarten registration, 5th grade recognition, and teacher requests for 2020-2021.
We still have many bags of student belongings, Spring pictures, and work packets left from the May 4th pick up. If you have not picked up your student’s things please call the school for pick up by next Thursday to make arrangements.
More information will be shared regarding Chromebook and materials collection once we have specific guidance regarding this process.
We will still be having rising kindergarten registration on Wednesday, May 27 from 8:30-1:00 pm. This will be drop in / drive thru style on the bus lot side of the school similar to how we have operated work packet pick up. Our Kindergarten teachers and teacher assistants will be outside on the sidewalk to assist you. We will be handing out information packets and gathering information from parents. If you have a certified copy of your child’s birth certificate and proof of residence in our school district (preferably a driver’s license), please bring that with you. We will have the capability to capture a digital image of these items, and that part of the registration process will be completed. If you don’t have these documents, please come through the line anyway to pick up an information packet and complete a contact information sheet for us.
Please share this with everyone you know who will be enrolling a kindergarten student at Jonathan Valley for the 2020-2021 school year.
Fifth grade families please remember to send a baby / toddler photograph and a current photograph to Mrs. Abbe by Monday for a special 5th grade recognition surprise. Her email address is labbe@haywood.k12.nc.us, and her email is also on the JV website.
Please check the Jonathan Valley website under the General Information tab and click the 2020-2021 Teacher Request link for information regarding teacher requests for next year. We will only be accepting requests of a teacher you request your child not to have. Given the high-performing staff we are so fortunate to have at Jonathan Valley, requests to avoid must be well-founded, valid reasons, and must be submitted to me in writing or email by our last day of school, Thursday, June 4. Requests will not be considered after the June 4 deadline. You may email me at jreeves@haywood.k12.nc.us.
As always we are here to help, so please call us with any questions or concerns you may have.
