Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,

This message contains information about Thanksgiving Break, White Christmas Canned Food Drive, and our annual, winter break, JVE Twelve Days of Christmas Spirit Days.  

There will be no school November 24th – November 26th..  We hope you all enjoy the Thanksgiving Break  with family and friends.

It is time once again for Jonathan Valley Elementary School to partner with Evergreen Industry for the  Annual White Christmas Canned Food Drive. We will begin collecting non-perishable canned food items on Monday, November 29th , and will end the food drive on Monday, December 13th. This year, we hope to collect more food than ever before by holding a contest among the grade levels. The grade levels have been organized into three teams; Kindergarten and Fifth, First and Fourth, Second and Third. There will be shopping carts in the front lobby labeled with these team names. Each morning, students will add food items to their group’s cart. At the end, the team with the most collected items will win a movie party on Monday, December 20th. Parents may also drop off non-perishable food items at the front office, but please add a  label stating the grade level so we can include them in the contest.  The food is distributed to local food banks and to needy families in Haywood County by Evergreen Industry. The continued success of this canned food drive would not be possible without the efforts of the students, staff, parents and caring individuals of our community.

Our annual winter break, Twelve Days of Christmas, spirit days will kick off on December 6th.
