Good Afternoon Jonathan Valley Families,

We have enjoyed welcoming our PreK students and Kindergarteners back to JVE this week.

This phone call has information about Labor Day,  September Attendance Awareness Month, JVE’s Amazon Wishlist,  free breakfast and lunch, transportation changes, car line and Fall Festival.

There will be no school, Monday, September 5, for Labor Day.

September is attendance awareness month.  As we start the school year of 2022-2023, we want to ensure that your child has a successful year. Attendance is a major factor in the success of a student. Absences during the first month of school can predict poor attendance throughout the year. Mrs. Mull, our School Social Worker, has planned some exciting incentives for being on time and at school for the month of September.  A letter with more details was sent home with students, sent through Remind and to your email, and posted on our JVE website. 

JVE has an Amazon wishlist.  This is a great way to help our students and staff.  Check out the letter sent home, or you can find more information on Remind, in your email, or on our JVE website. 

We are thankful to be part of a grant so all of our JVE students can have free breakfast and lunch. In order to keep this grant next year, we have to keep our participation numbers up, or we may not qualify for this grant for the 23-24 school year.  We encourage all of our students to eat breakfast and lunch at school

Just a friendly reminder, all transportation changes need to be written in agenda books the night before, or called into the front office at 828-926-3207. We keep a daily record of all transportation changes. Please do not send transportation changes through Remind.  We love Remind, it’s convenience, and quick,  two way communication, but during the day our teachers at JVE are teaching, so any transportation changes or urgent messages should be called into the front office.  Teachers usually check Remind in the morning, during their planning period, and after school.  

Please be sure to have your yellow car line sign with your children’s names written, so the person on the car line can see their name.  This is an additional safety layer we have, and if you do not have your sign visible the JVE faculty / staff member will ask to see some form of identification.  Let us know if you need an additional yellow car tag, and we will send one your way.  

Fall Festival will be on Thursday, October 6th, from 5:30-7:30.  Be sure to save the date.
