Kindergarten Focus for Student Success (Parent/Student/School Compact Title I)
What is a
A school- parent compact for achievement is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. The compact lays out how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all students meet the grade level standards.
*Link to goals of the school improvement plan
*Focus on student learning skills
*Describe how teachers will help students
*Share specific strategies parents can utilize at home
*Explain communication about student progress
The parents, students, and staff of JVES developed this school-parent compact for achievement. Meetings are held each year to review and revise the compact.
Parents are welcome to contribute comments at any time.

The Kindergarten Classroom
Kindergarten teachers will work with students and their families to support students’ success in reading and math. Key connections with families will be:
*Fast Start reading program for daily poetry reading and phonological awareness.
*Providing parents with flash cards for sight word practice.
*School website provides links for family fun games that help students practice math facts and sight words.
*Family Math night, November 8, 2018 to learn math games.
JVES parents/guardians joined staff to develop ideas about how families can support students’ success in reading and math. Families may have other ideas to add to this list.
*Practice poem nightly and follow the steps provided to increase phonological awareness and reading readiness.
*Practice a few sight words each day to increase my child’s sight word fluency.

Students thought of the following ideas to make connections between learning at school and home.
*Bring my Fast Start Folder to my parent each evening.
