2nd Grade Focus for Student Success (Parent/Student/School Compact Title I)
What is a
A school- parent compact for achievement is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. The compact lays out how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all students meet the grade level standards.
*Link to goals of the school improvement plan
*Focus on student learning skills
*Describe how teachers will help students
*Share specific strategies parents can utilize at home
*Explain communication about student progress
The parents, students, and staff of JVES developed this school-parent compact for achievement. Meetings are held each year to review and revise the compact.

The Second Grade Classroom
Second Grade teachers will work with students and their families to support students’ success in reading and math. Key connections with families will be:
*Providing fluency phrases activities based on student need.
*School website provides links for family fun games that help students practice math facts and sight words.
*Addition and subtraction flash cards for practicing facts at home.
*Family Math night, November 8, 2018 to learn math games.
JVES parents/guardians joined staff to develop ideas about how families can support students’ success in reading and math. Families may have other ideas to add to this list.
*Time my child for a minute as he/she practices his/her fluency phrase cards.
*Practice addition and subtraction cards each day with my child.
*Utilize the webpages provided to practice math facts and sight words.
*Read daily with my child and listen to my child read to me.
Students thought of the following ideas to make connections between learning at school and home.
*Challenge myself to practice my addition and subtraction flash cards daily.
*Practice my fluency phrases at home.
*Read my Take Home readers.
*Play the games to increase my knowledge of math facts and sight words.
*Find a quiet spot for reading with my parent/guardian.
