3rd Grade Focus for Student Success (Parent/Student/School Compact Title I)

(Revised 6/4/18)

What is a
School-Parent Compact?

A school- parent compact for achievement is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together.  The compact lays out how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all students meet the grade level standards.

Strong Compacts:

*Link to goals of the school improvement plan

*Focus on student learning skills

*Describe how teachers will help students

*Share specific strategies parents can utilize at home

*Explain communication about student progress

Developed Together

The parents, students, and staff of JVES developed this school-parent compact for achievement.  Meetings are held each year to review and revise the compact.

Parents are welcome to contribute comments at any time.

The Third Grade Classroom

Third Grade teachers will work with students and their families to support students’ success in reading and math.  Key connections with families will be:

*Teachers will provide a variety of books for reading at home to increase volume of reading.

*School website provides links for family fun games that help students practice multiplication facts.

*Multiplication flash cards for practicing facts at home.

*Family Math night, November 8, 2018 to learn math games.

Family Responsibilities

JVES parents/guardians joined staff to develop ideas about how families can support students’ success in reading and math. Families may have other ideas to add to this list.

*Practice multiplication flash cards each day with my child.

*Utilize the webpages provided to practice multiplication facts.

*Help my child find a quiet area to read silently and discuss what they are reading with them

Student Responsibilities

Students thought of the following ideas to make connections between learning at school and home.

*Challenge myself to practice my multiplication flash cards daily.

*Set individual reading goals for myself.

*Read my Take Home readers.

*Play the games to increase my knowledge of my multiplication facts.

*Build my stamina for silent reading.
